(f+g)(x) = 2x - 1 + x^2 + 7 = x^2 + 2x + 6

(f-g)(x) = 2x - 1 - x^2 - 7 = -x^2 + 2x - 8

(f*g)(x) = (2x - 1)(x^2 - 7) = 2x^3 - 14x - x^2 + 7 = 2x^3 - x^2 - 14x + 7

(f/g)(x) = (2x - 1)/(x^2 - 7) - No simplification

f(g(-8)) = 2((-8)^2) - 7) - 1
            = 2(64 - 7) -1
            = 2(57) - 1 = 114 - 1 = 113

g(f(1))  = (2(1) - 1)^2 - 7
            = (2 - 1)^2 - 7
            = 1^2 - 7 = 1 - 7 = -6

Sarah pays a 20% deposit for a new TV and then an extra $96. What’s the total cost?
mixer [17]

A deposit (in this case) is a portion of the TV paid in advance - 20% of the total cost. That means that the 96$ makes up the remaining 80% of the total cost, which I'll represent as x. From here, we can set up an equation to find the total cost x, since we have a relation to form it on - the fact that 80% of x is equal to 96$.

0.8x = 96

\frac{0.8x}{0.8} = \frac{96}{0.8}

x = 120

The total cost of the TV is 120 dollars.

Who can be good role models?
Natasha_Volkova [10]

Answer:

A good role model is someone who is always positive, calm, and confident in themselves. You don't want someone who is down or tries to bring you down. Everyone likes a person who is happy with their achievements, but continues to strive for bigger and better objectives. Don't be afraid to be unique. A good role model is someone who is kind, but firm in their ways. He or she is humble, loving, caring, and always willing to help.

Triangle ABC is an obtuse triangle with the obtuse angle at vertex B. Angle A must be
kvv77 [185]
Answer:

Angle A must be acute.

Explanation:

Both angle A and C must be acute. The sum of the angles in a triangle is 180°.

An obtuse angle is more than 90°, so the sum of the remaining 2 angles has to be less than 90°.

Note that it is impossible to have:

2 right angles in a triangle, because 90°+90°=180° and the third angle still needs to be added.1 obtuse and 1 right angle in a triangle, their sum is more than 180°2 obtuse angles in a triangle, their sum is more than 180°

It is possible to have an obtuse-angled isosceles triangle, but the vertex angle must be obtuse and the equal base angles will be acute.
