A cube with 15-cm-long sides is sitting on the bottom of an aquarium in which the water is one meter deep. (Round your answers t

o the nearest whole number. Use 9.8 m/s2 for the acceleration due to gravity. Recall that the weight density of water is 1000 kg/m3.) (a) Estimate the hydrostatic force on the top of the cube. N (b) Estimate the hydrostatic force on one of the sides of the cube.

Answer:

0.204 KN

Step-by-step explanation:

Height above cube h= (100-15)/100 =  0.85 m

a) force on the top of the cube = ρgh×area

= 1000×9.81×0.85 = 8330 N/m^2

= 833 KN/m^2*0.15^2= 0.187 KN

b) Force on one side of the cube

on top = 8.33 KN/m^2

at bottom ρgh

= 1000×9.8×100/100

=9800 N/m^2

Net Force =  area of the diagram

= 8.33×(15/100)^2 + 1/2(9.8-8.33)×(15/100)^2

= 0.204 KN

Which system of equations can be graphed to find the soultion(s) to x^2=2x+3
Elanso [62]

Answer:

\left \{ {{y=x^2} \atop {y=2x+3}} \right.

Step-by-step explanation:

The system would be:

\left \{ {{y=x^2} \atop {y=2x+3}} \right.

And I attached the graph. The system will have 2 solution (The 2 intercepts between the curves)

Answer:

  97.8 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

All of the side lengths are given. Add them up to find the perimeter.

An ellipse has a center at the origin, a vertex along the major axis at (10, 0), and a focus at (8, 0). Which equation represent
Alchen [17]
Check the picture below.  So the ellipse looks more or less like so.

since the major axis is over the x-axis, is a horizontal ellipse, notice the "a" component length and the value for "c".

\bf \textit{ellipse, horizontal major axis}
\\\\
\cfrac{(x- h)^2}{ a^2}+\cfrac{(y- k)^2}{ b^2}=1
\qquad
\begin{cases}
center\ ( h, k)\\
vertices\ ( h\pm a,  k)\\
c=\textit{distance from}\\
\qquad \textit{center to foci}\\
\qquad \sqrt{ a ^2- b ^2}
\end{cases}\\\\
-------------------------------

\bf \begin{cases}
h=0\\
k=0\\
a=10\\
c=8
\end{cases}\implies 8=\sqrt{a^2-b^2}\implies 8^2=a^2-b^2\implies b^2=10^2-8^2
\\\\\\
b=\sqrt{100-64}\implies b=6
\\\\\\
\cfrac{(x-0)^2}{10^2}+\cfrac{(y-0)^2}{6^2}=1\implies \cfrac{x^2}{100}+\cfrac{y^2}{36}=1
