They had the hame field advantage so to speak.  Also, they had the motivation.  For the British it was just another war, but to the colonists it was everything.  Lastly, they just had to fight to a draw and the British had to win the entire land back.

The Americans had a sense of Patriotism, (they were highly motivated to fight) and they knew the land they were fighting on. (North America)

Britian had to wait months for troops to arrive at the American colonies, whereas the colonies only had to wait days for more troops to arrive from the other colonies.

Example problem for determining nominal strength of a single reinforced concrete beam with two rows of steel?
Kaylis [27]

According to calculations employing specific material strengths (such as yield strength, Fy, or ultimate strength), nominal strength is the ability of a structure or component to resist the effects of loads.

What is nominal capacity of the beam?

  • Using the forces in the beam's segments at equilibrium, the nominal moment capacity of an RC beam is calculated.
  • On the nominal moment capacity under fire, the benefit of circulating cool water and covering concrete is evaluated.

How do you calculate reinforced concrete beams?

The numbers must be multiplied by 1.65 - 0.0003wc but not less than 1.09 for lightweight concrete with equilibrium density (between 1440 and 1840 kg/m3).

How are reading strategies for subject content different from reading strategies for fiction?
erastova [34]

Answer:

Reading Subject contents is intended to learn / acquire new information.

Reading fiction is intended for entertainment.

When designing strategies to learn, you need higher level of focus and adjust it to your learning capabilities.  You will need to put more effort to understand the content of the book.

This will be a lot of different compared to designing strategies to consume entertainment. You can do it however you feel comfortable. The stakes is significantly low compared to reading to acquire knowledge.

How many Non-Voting members in the US House? Who do they represent?
Flura [38]

Answer:

Non-voting members of the United States House of Representatives (called either delegates or resident commissioner, in the case of Puerto Rico) are representatives of their territory in the House of Representatives, who do not have a right to vote on proposed legislation in the full House but nevertheless have floor privileges and are able to participate in certain other House functions. Non-voting members may vote in a House committee of which they are a member and introduce legislation.[1][2] There are currently six non-voting members: a delegate representing the District of Columbia, a resident commissioner representing Puerto Rico, and one delegate for each of the other four permanently inhabited US territories: American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the US Virgin Islands. A seventh delegate, representing the Cherokee Nation, has been formally proposed but not yet seated, while an eighth, representing the Choctaw Nation, is named in a treaty but has neither been proposed nor seated. As with voting members, non-voting delegates are elected every two years, and the resident commissioner of Puerto Rico is elected every four years.
