In the United States Senate, filibuster is a tactic to delay or to block a bill, a resolution ora n amendment. Senators prevent those to be voted. Filibuster only can happen in the Senate. Once a Senator starts to speak on the floor, he or she can take any time they want to expose his/her arguments. The term filibuster comes from the Spanish word “filibustero” that could be translated as a “pirate”.
