A memoir refers to a genre of literature in which the author writes a factual account of his/her life. It belongs to the autobiography category, it's a sub-genre. Unlike a normal autobiography, a memoir is focused on an specific theme or a part of the person's life. It is usually written by celebrities, politicians, athletes, etc, although anyone can write one. A memoir usually involves reflection of a particular event, making a connection and serving as inspiration for the readers.
