protocol is a set of guidelines that a computer must follow to establish a connection/communication between entities/devices interconnection via a network to a computer or a set of rules that a computer must follow to communicate with other electronic device.
there are different types of computer protocols but the most fundamental/important of them is the OSI ( open system interconnection) which is the protocol used for networking different computer. other forms of protocol includes: HTTP ( hyper text markup language ) and FTP ( file transfer protocol ).
