Answer:

Crude oil originates from ancient fossilized organic materials, such as zooplankton and algae, that convert geochemical processes into oil. The name "mineral oil" is a misnomer, as minerals are not a source of oil, and neither are ancient plants and animals

Identify the choice that best completes the statement or answers the question.
zaharov [31]

Answer:

The answer is: Scientific theories do not become scientific laws; they are explanations for natural phenomena based on evidence.

Explanation:

The other answers talk about how 1) Science should be bias or opinion based 2) Scientists only take each other's word and 3) Science never changes. All of these are false. Science <em>does </em>sometimes change, it should <em>not </em>be bias or opinion-based, and scientists do not always take each other's words.

Structures that appear to have no function for the organism but probably had a function in an ancestral organism?
navik [9.2K]
I believe these types of structures are called vestigial structures. Vestigial structures are body parts that seemingly have no purpose or function in the current form of an organism of the given species. Examples of such structures in human include; the muscles of the ear, the appendix, the tail bone, body hair, wisdom teeth among others. These structures are often homologous to structure that are functioning normally in other species and for this reason they can be considered evidence for evolution.
