The correct answer is option B, that is, their tendency to grow densely on steep slopes.

Erosion refers to the movement of the components of the soil, mainly the surface of topsoil and litter from one place to another. In undisturbed ecosystems, the roots of plants assist in holding the soil, and generally, the soil is not lost faster than it forms.

The steep slopes usually exhibit no or little soil on them due to gravity. The runoff from precipitation seems to erode the slope also. However, in such cases, trees like junipers helps to bind the soil together due to their tendency to grow densely on steep slopes.

How does carbon moves from the atmosphere to the biosphere?
maks197457 [2]

Answer:

Via a range of pathways, carbon travels from one storage reservoir to another. In the food chain, for example, plants, by photosynthesis, transfer carbon from the atmosphere into the biosphere. Respiration, excretion, and decomposition release the fuel, continuing the cycle, back into the atmosphere or soil.
