At the moment Francisco Pizarro arrived to the Inca Empire in 1532, it was in the middle of a civil war for the succession to the throne of the Inca between the two brothers Atahualpa and Huascar. This internal division was taken as an advantage by Pizarro, who allied to the nobility of Cuzco, Huascar supporters, in order to overthrow Atahualpa. After Atahualpa killed his brother Huascar, Pizarro captured and killed Atahualpa. This was the end of the Inca Empire and the beginning of the Spanish domain in the Andes region.
