Where and how do hurricanes form?

Hurricanes form over the warm ocean water of the tropics. When warm moist air over the water rises, it is replaced by cooler air. The cooler air will then warm and start to rise. This cycle causes huge storm clouds to form.

Answer:

Hurricanes are powerhouse weather events that suck heat from tropical waters to fuel their fury. These violent storms form over the ocean, often beginning as a tropical wave—a low pressure area that moves through the moisture-rich tropics, possibly enhancing shower and thunderstorm activity.

As this weather system moves westward across the tropics, warm ocean air rises into the storm, forming an area of low pressure underneath. This causes more air to rush in. The air then rises and cools, forming clouds and thunderstorms. Up in the clouds, water condenses and forms droplets, releasing even more heat to power the storm.

When wind speeds within such a storm reach 74 mph, it’s classified as a hurricane. The terms “hurricane” and “tropical cyclone” refer to the same kind of storm: a rotating, organized system of clouds and thunderstorms that originates over tropical or subtropical waters and has closed, low-level circulation.

During just one hurricane, raging winds can churn out about half as much energy as the electrical generating capacity of the entire world, while cloud and rain formation from the same storm might release a staggering 400 times that amount.

When studying animal behavior, the distribution of organisms within a choice chamber can be studied to identify animal preferenc
Komok [63]

Answer:

c

Explanation:

Random distribution of the Isopods should be 50/50 in A and B.

Chi-square = \frac{(O - E)^2}{E} where O = observed frequency and E = expected frequency

Chamber O E Chi-square

  A 18 10 \frac{(18 - 10)^2}{10} = 6.4

  B 2 10 \frac{(2 - 10)^2}{10} = 6.4

Total Chi-square = 6.4 + 6.4 = 12.8

Degree of freedom = 2 - 1 = 1

Tabulated Chi-square (α = 0.05) = 3.8415

The calculated Chi-square exceeds the critical value, hence, it is significant and not due to random.

The correct option is c.

Euglena use chloroplasts to make food through the photosynthesis process.
a. True
b. False
Elodia [21]
True

Chloroplasts are organelles that are responsible for the photosynthetic functioning of an organism.Photosynthesis is the process by which an organism uses the photons to produce energy. These organisms uses the sun, together with the acquired resource of water and carbon dioxide to create sugar and process into energy.
