Pottery Ranch Inc. has been manufacturing its own finials for its curtain rods. The company is currently operating at 100% of ca

pacity, and variable manufacturing overhead is charged to production at the rate of 61% of direct labor cost. The direct materials and direct labor cost per unit to make a pair of finials are $4 and $5, respectively. Normal production is 33,300 curtain rods per year.
A supplier offers to make a pair of finials at a price of $12.90 per unit. If Pottery Ranch accepts the supplier’s offer, all variable manufacturing costs will be eliminated, but the $49,200 of fixed manufacturing overhead currently being charged to the finials will have to be absorbed by other products.

Prepare an incremental analysis to decide if Pottery Ranch should buy the finials.

Answer:

It should keep producing their own finials

Explanation:

\left[\begin{array}{ccccc}&$Produce&$Buy&$Differential\\$Variable Cost&12.05&12.9&\\$Units&33,300&33,300&\\$Total&401,265&429,570&-28,305\\$Fixed&49,200&49,200&0\\&&&0\\$Total&450,465&478,770&-28,305\\\end{array}\right]

As the variable cost to produce are lower than the supplier offer:

4 materials + 5 labor + 61% of labor = 12.05

The company do not save any dollar in taking the offer.

Also to that cost it will be added the fixed overhead which is being allocated to finials thus, increasing further the supplier proposal.

Splish Company purchased a computer for $9,920 on January 1, 2019. Straight-line depreciation is used, based on a 5-year life an
BartSMP [9]

Answer:

$2914

Explanation:

The following steps would be taken to determine the answer

1. Calculate depreciation expense given the initial information

2. calculate the accumulated depreciation by the second year. Accumulated depreciation is sum of depreciation expense

3. subtract the accumulated depreciation from the cost price of the asset. This would give the book value

4. calculate the depreciation expense using the new information and the book value

Straight line depreciation expense = (Cost of asset - Salvage value) / useful life

($9,920 - $1240) / 5 =  $1736

Accumulated depreciation = 1736 x 2 = $3472

Book value at the beginning of 2021 = 9920 - 3472 = $6448

Depreciation expense in 2021 = (6448 - 620) / 2 = $2914

lapo4ka [179]

Answer:

The correct option is D: $8.60

Explanation:

Average fixed cost of Pretty Flowers = $5.40

Average variable costs of Pretty Flowers = $3.20

We are asked to calculate the Average total cost of Pretty Flowers at this current level

Hence:

Average total cost Pretty Flowers = Average fixed cost of Pretty Flowers + Average variable costs of Pretty Flowers

If we substitute the value of these variables in the equation, we get:

Average total cost Pretty Flowers = $5.40 + $3.20 = $8.60

Margarita [4]

Answer:

False

Explanation:

"Cash-to-cash Analysis and Management" by<em> Hutchinson, Farris and Anders</em> talks about the availability of the<em> financial data</em> and <em>computer technology</em> in assisting a business when it comes to determining its <u>cash-to-cash position </u><em><u>(C2C)</u></em><em>,</em> as well as the <em>benchmarks</em> needed for comparison.

Cash-to-cash analysis was difficult in the past, however, it is easier nowadays. The supply chain is even examined at a broader view than before. C2C efficiency is possible by utilizing the<em> readily available</em> financial date and computer technology. So, this makes the statement above as "false."

So, this explains the answer.

A pizza monopolist employing third-degree price discrimination charges students $10 per pizza and everyone else $15 per pizza St
tangare [24]

Answer:

The price elasticity of demand for the students is:

inelastic.

Explanation:

The price elasticity of demand for the students is inelastic because there is no change in the quantity demanded by students that changes the price at which pizza is sold to the students.  If one student buys the pizza, the price charged remains $10 and if 1,000 students buy the pizza, the price remains $10 per unit.  Therefore, students' demand for the pizza is said to be static irrespective of price because the price is fixed.
