Answer:

Neurotransmitters are released from neurons in response to the increase in intra-cellular concentration of CALCIUM IONS

Explanation:

Calcium ion are vital in the release of neurotransmitters. When action potential reaches the terminal of a neuron, the voltage-dependent calcium ions are activated, there is therefore the influx of calcium ions. When calcium channels are blocked, there is the inhibition of neurotransmitter release from the neurons. Calcium channels are discovered to be located near the active zones of vesicular membranes and it has been found that the influx of calcium ions is far greater at the active zones than elsewhere in the neurons. So the observation of large influx of calcium ions in the active zones of neurons is consistent with the release of neurotransmitter as action potential is generated in the neurons.

If no ATP is present in the muscle cell what would be the likely result?
Elden [556K]

Answer: c. The myosin would not be able to let go of the actin

Explanation:

Muscles consists of two proteins called actin and myosin and responsible for muscle contraction.

Myosin is ATP dependant and when ATP binds to it, it is able to release the actin.

This will allow the actin and myosin to seperate from each other thus leading to muscle contraction

Which connective tissue layer directly surrounds each axon in a nerve?
gregori [183]

Answer:

Endonerium

Explanation:

The endoneurium (also called endoneurial channel, endoneurial sheath, endoneurial tube, or Henle's sheath) is a layer of delicate connective tissue around the myelin sheath of each myelinated nerve fiber in the peripheral nervous system. Its component cells are called endoneurial cells. The endoneuria with their enclosed nerve fibers are bundled into groups called nerve fascicles, each fascicle within its own protective sheath called a perineurium. In sufficiently large nerves multiple fascicles, each with its blood supply and fatty tissue, may be bundled within yet another sheath, the epineurium.

How does climate determine the organisms that live in a biome
maria [59]
Different organisms thrive in different biomes. The reason for this is that different organisms have different needs for survival. Climate and nutrition play the biggest part in determining if an organism will live in a biome. If the climate is unfavourable, the organism will either die or simply move to a different flora. The other option is that it could adapt to the conditions of it's current biome but this often takes a much longer time.
