Answer:

The testes are male reproductive organs that produce and store (semen/sperm), which is the male gamete containing half of the DNA in somatic cells.

The typically 28-day process of egg release from the ovaries and, if fertilization does not occur, release from the body, is known as the (menstrual) cycle.

If two eggs are released and fertilized by two different sperm, then (unidentical) twins will occur.

If a hormone operates by entering a cell's nucleus and altering the expression of its DNA, then it is classified as a/n (important) hormone.

Once sperm cells are mixed with seminal fluid to provide protection and nutrition, this mixture is known as (semen).

The bulbourethral and glands play an important role in providing additional fluids to semen production.

The first phases of a new zygote's growth through mitosis occur in the (uterus).

The (outer)germ layer will eventually develop into the skin and nervous system.

A fetus growing in the uterus does not eat food or drink water. Instead, important nutrients, antibodies, and molecules pass from the mother through the (umbilical cord).

Make a list, or write a short paragraph, that explains the major stages of pregnancy after fertilization, through childbirth. Provide as much detail as possible.

After fertilization of an egg by sperm in the fallopian tubes, a blastocyst forms and implants on the uterus wall. These cells then begin to differentiate. During gastrulation, the three main germ layers form (endo, meso, and ectoderms). During neurulation, the notochord and neural tube form. The neural tube must close to avoid birth defects or conditions. The amniotic sac forms, and the placenta forms to provide a link from the mother to the fetus through the umbilical cord. During months 4-6, bones replace cartilage and organs develop. In months 7-9 the fetus matures its lungs and central nervous system. Finally, oxytocin triggers childbirth, when uterine contractions push the baby from the vagina.

What specific changes in rachel’s muscle cells and kidney function are leading to elevated plasma k levels?
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]

Intracellular Potassium Shifts and Impaired Potassium Excretion leads to elevated plasma K levels.

What is Hyperkalemia?

  • Hyperkalemia, a potentially lethal condition, develops when serum potassium levels rise above 5.5 mmol/l.
  • Potassium is the most common intracellular cation and is crucial for many physiological functions, at a concentration of 100-150 mmol/l. The digestive system quickly and usually fully absorbs potassium.

Causes:

  • Increased Potassium intake: In adult patients with normal renal function, increased dietary potassium intake is a very rare cause of hyperkalemia, but it can be a significant factor in people with kidney disease.
  • Intracellular Potassium Shifts: Large amounts of intracellular potassium can be released into the extracellular area as a result of cellular damage. Excessive activity, rhabdomyolysis after a crush injury, or other hemolytic processes can all be to responsible for this.
  • Impaired Potassium Excretion: The most frequent cause of hyperkalemia is acute or chronic renal disease. Hyperkalemia may also result from tubular dysfunction brought on by aldosterone insufficiency or insensitivity.

dolphi86 [110]

Answer:

The correct answer is b) placing medication drops in nose, eyes, or ears.

Instill refers to the action of pouring or introducing a liquid drop by drop on a mucosal surface or inside a canal or organic cavity, for therapeutic purposes. The most used instillations are: conjunctival, nasal, paranasal, atrial, laryngeal, tracheal, bronchial, bladder and urethral.
