Answer:

f(x) = - \sqrt{x - a} + b

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given a few functions in options and we have to choose from them that has the domain [a,∞) and range (-∞,b].

Now, for domain i.e. the value of x ≥ a.

Therefore, the value of y must be a function of \sqrt{x - a}

So, there is only one function f(x) = - \sqrt{x - a} + b ............ (1), that has  the term \sqrt{x - a} in it.

Now, for x = a, the value of f(x) becomes b and for x = ∞ the function f(x) value becomes -∞.

Therefore, the range of the function will be (-∞,b] i.e. y ≤ b.

Hence, the required function is f(x) = - \sqrt{x - a} + b. (Answer)

A cylinder shaped water tank has a diameter of 8 m and a height of 20 m.
aev [14]

Answer:

602.88 cu ft.

Step-by-step explanation:

V = Bh where B is the area of the base, which is a circle in your problem.

Since the diameter is 8, the radius is 4.

So, B = \pi r^{2}  = 3.14(4^{2} )  = 3.14(16) = 50.24

V = Bh = 50.24(20) = 1004.8 cu ft = total volume of tank

60% of that volume is .60(1004.8) = 602.88 cu ft.

Please help, I’ve been stuck on this question for about a hour now.
Hoochie [10]
6x + 5x + (x + 16) + (3x - 1) = 360
11x + x + 16 + 3x - 1
15x + 15 = 360
15x = 345
x = 23

6(23) = 138
((23) + 16) = 39
(3(23) - 1) =68
5(23) = 115

138 + 39 + 68 + 115 = 360

Can someone check 1/10 and 9???? Thnx
fiasKO [112]
For numbers 9 and 10, we are dealing with negative exponents.

The rule of exponents states that any quantity b, taken to the power -n, equals the reciprocal of b, taken to the nth power.

Example: x⁻³ = 1 / x³

Number 9: ( 3 / y² ) ⁻³

Step 1: take the reciprocal:

( 3 / y² ) ⁻³ = ( y² / 3 ) ³

Step 2: distribute the exponent

( y² / 3 ) ³ = y⁶ / 27

Try to do number 10 on your own. If you have any questions, comment.
