World War I affect the women in the United States by changing their role. Before the war, the role of women mainly involved tending the family at home.However, expanding war industries dipped heavily into the labor force of women. Also, women were forced to assume the role of breadwinner as their husbands left for war.

Finally, in 476, the Germanic leader Odoacer staged a revolt and deposed the Emperor Romulus Augustulus. From then on, no Roman emperor would ever again rule from a post in Italy, leading many to cite 476 as the year the Western Empire suffered its deathblow.
