So if you are going to buy 5 socks you need to multiply 5 x $4.00 and you get 20.00.

If he buys 2 pairs of shoes for 28.00 you multiply it by 2 and get 56.00.

Then you add 56.00 and 20.00 and get 76.00.

Answer:

No he can not buy to pairs of shoes and 5 pairs of socks because he needs $1 to pay it all.

Step-by-step explanation:

First, you would want to use the property of multiplication and multiply

28.00 by 2 and that will give you 56.

So it will cost 56 dollars to get 2 pairs of shoes.

Then, you would also want to use the property of multiplication again and multiply 4 by 5 and that will give me 20.

So it will cost Matthew 20 dollars to 5 paris of socks.

Finally, we would use the property of addition and add 20 and 56 and that will give you 76 dollars so 2 pairs of shoes and 5 pairs of socks will cost 76 dollars.

In conclusion, no Matthew can not buy 2 pairs of shoes and 5 pairs of socks.

How to multiply and divide integers
Artyom0805 [142]

You multiply or divide integers just as you do whole numbers, except you must keep track of the signs. To multiply or divide signed integers, always multiply or divide the absolute values and use these rules to determine the sign of the answer.

When you multiply two integers with the same signs, the result is always positive. Just multiply the absolute values and make the answer positive.

Positive x positive = positive
Negative x negative = positive

When you multiply two integers with different signs, the result is always negative. Just multiply the absolute values and make the answer negative.

Positive x negative = negative
Negative x positive = negative
