The alliance was initially proposed by Germany. Both countries found Germany's plan suited their expansionary interests, as Italy had interests in Northern Africa and Japan wanted to exercise control over Southeast Asia.

<span>Imperialism has resulted in the exploitation's of the resources of the natives and their countries. We see that because of colonialism that tensions build up between ethnic groups. For example the tension between the Kayin and the Bumar ethnic groups in Burma has resulted in the British occupation of that area. Religion are often force to change as we see in the conquest of Latin America by the Spaniards. Colonialism is the conquering of a certain land, Imperialism in the conquest of multiple land that had sovereignty before hand. In the America's Colonialism resulted in the eradication of many natural ethnic groups while in the old world tensions between ethnic groups arises from colonialism.
