Which racial groups were denied voting rights under apartheid?

History
1 answer:
Wewaii [24]3 years ago

Answer:

Blacks ( African Americans)

Explanation:

Voting rights were denied to ‘Coloureds’ in the same way that they were denied to Blacks but in 1977 this was changed. The idea was that the ‘Coloured’ minority could be granted voting rights, but the Black majority were to become citizens of independent homelands. These separate arrangements continued until the abolition of apartheid.

Really hope this helps anyone who needs it. : D

Connecting to a larger context
Maslowich

Answer:

This excerpt from document two connects to when the abolition of slavery was truly beginning to happen. Buchanan was a democrat who morally was against slavery but seemed to think the Constitution protected the rights of slave owners. " Should it be refused, then the Constitution, to which all the States are parties, will have been willfully violated by one portion of them in a provision essential to the domestic security and happiness of the remainder" . Buchanan states simply that if the southeners are refused their " rights " to have slaves then the peace that Anti and Pro slavery people, will no longer exist. I am meeting the essay's requirements for contextualization because I am quoting the context directly and using the context to help inform my audience.

1. Why was Justinian’s Code created? Why was it important?
nekit [7.7K]

The Justinian Code was created in order to create one single set of laws for all of the Byzantine Empire. This code was extremely important because it served as the basis for everyday actions within the empire including marriage, criminal justice, slavery, and property rights. Along with this, the code ended up serving as the basis for the laws of the Byzantine Empire for the next 900 years. Countries all over world use ideas from Justinian Code's in order to form a comprehensive set of laws. The four sections of the code are the Codex Constitutionum, Digesta, Institutiones, and the Novella Constitutiones Post Codicem.

What were some of the changes and advancements during the Middle Kingdom period?
nirvana33 [79]

Answer:

During the Middle Kingdom, quite a few advancements had occurred.  The most interesting advancement that I read about was the emergence of Egyptian literature.  The texts provide us with a firmer grasp on Egyptian life such as the social unrest, famine, and every day life.  A variety of texts developed over this time period.   Egyptian literature was not only used for entertainment in story form, but it was used for many other things such as coffin texts, instructions, and discourses.  More Egyptians were able to write and read with the establishment of the first school during the 12th dynasty.   Those who were in lower ranks may have been able to read as well because coffin texts were found in graves of private individuals and not just in the ones for the royal family, as pyramid texts were during the Old Kingdom.
