Here are some basic rules for rounding:
1)  Locate the digit that is in the place value that you want to round to
2)  Look at the digit immediately to the right of the digit you want to round
*if that digit is a 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4, the digit you're rounding stays the same as it     is and everything after it turns into a 0 (or if it's in the decimals, the other digits drop off
*if that digit is a 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9, the digit you're wanting to round goes up to the next digit, and everything behind it turns into a 0 (decimals drop off)

Hope this helps

Find the value of X and Y in the triangle
Darya [45]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  x ≈ 7.00

  y ≈ 12.21

Step-by-step explanation:

The mnemonic SOH CAH TOA is intended to remind you of the relationships ...

  Cos = Adjacent/Hypotenuse

  Tan = Opposite/Adjacent

__

Translated to the figure at hand, these are ...

  cos(35°) = 10/y   ⇒   y = 10/cos(35°) ≈ 12.21

  tan(35°) = x/10   ⇒   x = 10·tan(35°) ≈ 7.00
