STEP 3:
find number of pints with 3 cups left
2 cups= 1 pint

= 3 ÷ 2
divide total cups left by # cups in 1 pint

= 1.5 pints

*Add the number of pints in step 3 to the number of quarts in step 2.


ANSWER: He can fill 5 quarts and 1.5 pints.
