Hello there, and thank you for asking your question here on brainly.

Answer: -4

Why?

When we subtract with negative numbers, it has it's own chart. (x - y = z | -x - y = -z and -x - (-y) = z) If we follow the chart, we are going to end up with a negative number. To solve, just subtract, and carry the negative sign. (7 - 3 = 4. Carry the -. 4 ==> -4) So, the answer is -4.

Hope this helped, and have a great day. ♥ ☺~

Round 24.99 to the nearest tenth
klasskru [66]
A tenth of 24.99 would be the first 9 after the point. In order to round it to the nearest tenth, we must look at the number after it. If that number is 5 or above, we must make the tenth one higher. In this case, the number after the tenth is above 5, so we change the tenth to a 1! Now the number becomes 25.00

Find the area of the triangle formed by the origin and the points of intersection of parabolas y=− 1/3 (x−1)^2+8 and y=x^2−2x−3.
Kobotan [32]

Answer:

The area of the triangle formed by origin, and the points (4,5) and (-2,5) will be 15 sq. units.

Step-by-step explanation:

The two parabolas are y = - \frac{1}{3}(x - 1)^{2} + 8 and y = x² - 2x - 3.

Now, solving those two equations we will get the points of intersection.

So, - \frac{1}{3}(x - 1)^{2} + 8 = x^{2} - 2x - 3

⇒ - (x - 1)² + 24 = 3x² - 6x - 9

⇒ -x² + 2x - 1 + 24 = 3x² - 6x - 9

⇒ 4x² - 8x - 32 = 0

⇒ x² - 2x - 8 = 0

⇒ x² - 4x + 2x - 8 = 0

⇒ (x - 4)(x + 2) = 0

So, x = 4 or - 2.

Now, for x = 4 , y = 4² - 2(4) - 3 = 5 and the point of intersection is (4,5).

Or, for x = - 2, y = (- 2)² - 2(- 2) - 3 = 5 and the point of intersection is (-2,5).

Now, points (4,5) and (-2,5) make a straight line parallel to the x-axis at a perpendicular distance of 5 units from origin and its length is (4 - (- 2)) = 6 units.

So, the area of the triangle formed by origin, and the points (4,5) and (-2,5) will be = 0.5 × 5 × 6 = 15 sq. units. (Answer)

Can an answer be incorrect even if it looks reasonable?
Anna [14]

Answer:

 • Yes, an answer can be incorrect even it it looks reasonable.

Explanation:

Yes, an answer can be incorrect even if it looks reasonable, for two main reasons:

 • The assumptions (premises or statements) on which the reasoning is based are wrong.
 • The reasoning sounds good but it is a fallacy.

To avoid the first condition you must be sure about the facts, which may be information from an experiment that you performed or from a source. In order for an answer be correct, make sure your premises are true.

Dealing with the second condition, a fallacy is an argument that seems strictly logical but is misleading: you must learn which reasonings are really valid; this is, that the conclusion unequivocally follows from the premises.

There are rules for the arguments to be valid, and that is the object of logic study.

Fallacies are sometimes used by those interested in supporting a point of view without having true reason on their side. You should have some knowledges about logic to avoid being victim of the fallacies, which can drive you to make wrong decisions.
