What does the transitional phrase “and yet” suggest about the information that is about to follow?
Marat540 [252]

Answer/Explanation: Using transitional phrases is a way to guide your reader from one thought to the next. These are used within your paragraphs as you move from one idea to another as well as when you need to move your reader to the next paragraph. Think of transitions as the links that help your writing flow.

Read the poem “Fog,” by Carl Sandburg. The fog comes on little cat feet. It sits looking over harbor and city on silent haunches
zhenek [66]

The lines from "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" most likely influenced Sandburg’s poem is this: - The yellow smoke that rubs its muzzle on the window-panes - Licked its tongue into the corners of the evening, - Lingered upon the pools that stand in drains,  The fog in Sandburg’s poem has a parallel representation with the as a cat in the above line from the Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock

A gentleman or a lady will always say "Thank you" to a waiter, but nothing more. Wine should be handed by the waiters after soup
Ede4ka [16]

The answer is D. How I figure out questions like these is by eliminating the choices that I know aren't right.

Like on A, I knew it wasn't right because the passage didn't say anything about invitations to dinner parties.

I knew B wasn't write either, because the passage doesn't talk about different types of people that come to a dinner party.

Not C, because it doesn't give advice on serving healthy entrees.

But it is D, because it tells you the do's and don'ts on how things should and shouldn't be done at a dinner party.
