In the attempt to do that most thought of the natives as savage and nonhuman. They believed themselves as the predominant race and the owners of the land the natives lived on. Many were greedy and only thought of what they could gain without thinking of the consequences of their actions.
Explanation: millions of Native Americans died not only from the diseases that were brought over but from the force labor and conquest of the conquistadors.
