12 - x = 5

Subtract 12 from both sides

12 - 12 - x = 5 - 12

- x = - 7

Divide both sides by -1

-x/-1 = -12/-1

x = 7

For 12-x = 5 to be true

simplly take x on the right side of the equation and put five in the place of x.

12 - x = 5

12 - 5 = x

now 12 - 5 = 7

therefore the value of x = 7.
