Numbers are 2,5 and 8 or -3, 5 and 13.

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Step 1: Given the sum of three numbers in AP is 15 and their product is 80.

Let the numbers be a, a+d and a+2d.

  • Step 2: Form equations with the given details.

⇒ a + a + d + a + 2d = 15

⇒ 3a + 3d = 15

⇒ a + d = 5 ---- (1)

⇒ d = 5 - a ---- (2)

Also, a(a + d)(a + 2d) = 80 ----- (3)

  • Step 3: Substitute (1) and (2) in (3)

⇒ a × 5 ×(a + 2d) = 80

⇒ a (a + 2d) = 16

⇒ a² + 2a (5-a) = 16

⇒ a² + 10a - 2a² = 16

⇒ a² - 10a + 16 = 0

⇒ a² - 2a - 8a + 16 = 0

⇒ a(a - 2) - 8(a - 2) = 0

⇒ (a - 8)(a - 2) = 0

⇒ a = 2, 8

  • Step 4: Find d by substituting a in eq(2)

⇒ d = 5 - a = 3 (when a = 2)

or d = 5 - a = -3 (when a = 8)

⇒ a = 2 and d = 3 or a = - 3 and d = 8

  • Step 5: Find the numbers

Numbers are 2, 5 and 8 or -3, 5 and 13

I'm an integer. I am less than zero but greater than -13. When you subtract me from -11. The result is positive. What number am
harina [27]

<u>Answer</u><u>: </u>

Required integer is -12.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Required number is integer.

Required integer is less than zero

greater than -13.

When number is substracted from -11, result is positive.

To Find:

The integer=?

Solution:

Lets assume required integer = x

As Required integer is less than zero and greater than -13 ,

-13 < x < 0     ------(1)

Also when number is subtracted from -11, result is positive.

=>  -11 – x > 0

=> -11 > x   -------(2)

So form 1 and 2

-13 < x < -11 that is x is an integer which is less than -11 and greater than -13.  There is only one integer between -13 and -11 that is -12.

Hence required integer is -12.

Can someone help me with 12 and explain how and why that’s the answer?
GuDViN [60]
Change both 4 to 2^2 and 8 to 2^3
you now have 2^2(4x-5)=2^3(3x-4)
2(4x-5)=3(3x-4)
8x-10=9x-12
x=2

A painting is purchased for $250. if the value of the painting doubles every 5 years, then its value is given by the function v(
nignag [31]
After 5 years, value doubles.
Hence after 5 years, value is 250 x 2 = 500
After another 5 years, value doubles.
500 x 2 = 1000
Ans: $1000

Method 2, using function given.
v(10) = 250 x 2(10/5) = $1000
