The Industrial Age changed the life of many people and improved the economy of the country, but it also had some negatives. Poor farmers decided to leave the rural areas of America and moved to the larger cities where the factories were located. These industries were offering many jobs but they were low paid jobs and the working conditions were unhealthy. So these workers and many immigrants that got jobs in the manufacturing plants had to live in small spaces because the rent was high and their salary low. These small spaces had not the proper living conditions, they were short of ventilation and spread disease easily.
