Now I'm not positive but I think they had serps (slaves), the working conditions weren't great but they were getting better
Paid media, the campaigns can pay to have whatever they want put out by any media source willing to accept their money and information.
Because there main product/export was cotton, so therefore it influenced them the most on the fact that they made more money.
