Answer:

20 ft long; 12 ft wide

Step-by-step explanation:

Let w = the width of the garden

Then l = w + 8

       A = lw

       A = (w + 8)w

=====

The sidewalk is 4 ft wide, so, for the big rectangle consisting of garden plus sidewalk:

Width   = w +8

Length = w + 16

   Area = (w + 8)(w + 16)

=====

The difference between the two areas is the area of the sidewalk (320 ft²).

(w + 8)(w + 16) - (w + 8)w = 320     Factor out w + 8

         (w+ 8)(w + 16 – w) = 320      Combine like terms

                     (w+ 8) × 16 = 320      Divide each side by 16

                             w + 8 = 20        Subtract 8 from each side

                                   w = 12 ft

                                    l = 12 + 8

                                   l = 20 ft

The garden is 20 ft long by 12 ft wide.

Gloria had two sets of alphabet cards (A–Z). She mixed the two sets together to form a single stack of cards. Then Gloria drew t
grin007 [14]
She has 52 card all together so she has a probability of drawing on the first draw 4 L's or R's because their are two sets of alphabet cards. So that is 4/52 or 1/13 to the lowest term. Second turn she only has 51 cards to draw from and still has 4 L's and R's so that would be 4/51 and on the third try she has only 50 cards left so that would be 4/50 or 2/25 to the lowest term. Now multiply all three factions 1/13 x 4/51 x 2/25 = 8/16575 meaning out of the three draws she has a probability of getting a L or R, 8 out of 16575 each draw.

Answer:

20cos(39) or  15.543 (3 d.p.)

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Use SOHCAHTOA
  • You want to find A and have an angle of 36° and H
  • So use CAH
  • cos(39) = x / 20
  • x = 20cos(39)

What is the surface area of a cube whose edges are 11 inches long?
Dennis_Churaev [7]
Surface area is the total area of the surface. A cube has 6 surface, and each surface is the same. Each surface is a 11 by 11 square. Therefore there will be 6 11in. x 11in. surfaces. The math would be 11x11x6 =726.
