Electrons are deflected by a magnetic field because...

Chemistry

they have a negligible mass and they also have a negative charge so they have an association with the magnetic field. Do you remember polar? So electrons are negative and they attract the nucleus which is overall postivie (since protons are positive) so they act as magnetic since they both have an attraction

How many milliliters of 0.02 M HCl are needed to react completely with 100 mL of 0.01 M NaOH?
serious [3.7K]
The reaction of HCl and NaOH is HCl + NaOH = NaCl + H2O. So the mole number of HCl and NaOH is equal. So the volume of HCl =0.01*0.1/0.02=0.05 L =50 ml. So the answer is D).

What is the type of weak bond between the hydrogen of one molecule and the nitrogen of another molecule, where the two don't act
Aliun [14]

Hydrogen Bonding

Explanation:

  • Hydrogen bonding is a type of weak bond.
  • Hydrogen Bonding occurs when the hydrogen atom of one molecule is bonded with a molecule of high electronegativity element like nitrogen of another molecule.
  • It is a type of dipole-dipole interations.
  • The nitrogen is a highly electronegative element that forms a weak bond with the hydrogen atom of another molecule with dipole-dipole interaction.
  • Hydrogen bonds are weaker than covalent and ionic bonds.
  • Therefore the type of bond is Hydrogen bond.

A compound is known to consist solely of carbon, hydrogen, and chlorine. Through elemental
OleMash [197]

Answer:

the empirical (lowest raios) is

C2H4Cl

Explanation:

A compound is known to consist solely of carbon, hydrogen, and chlorine. Through elemental analysis, it was determined that the compound is composed of 24.27% carbon.

What is the empirical formula of this compound?

the compound has ONLY C, H, and Cl

the % Cl  = 100% - 24.27% -4.03% = 71.7%

in 100 gm, there are 71.7 gm Cl, 24.27 gm C, and 4.03 gm H

the number of moles are Cl=71.7/70.91 =1.01= ~ 1

                                          C = 24.27/12.0 = 2.02 =~ 2

                                           H = 403/1.01 = 3.97 =~   4

so the empirical (lowest raios) is

C2H4Cl
