Answer:

The cost of each share in the software company is $25  and the cost price each share in biotechnology is $33.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let The cost of each share in the software company be = x

and each share in biotechnology  be = y

The cost price of  14 shares in the software company and 14 share in biotechnology is = 14x+14y

The cost price of  100 shares in the software company and 99 share in biotechnology is = 100x + 99y

According to the problem,

14x + 14y= 812

⇔x+y = 58..........(1)

and

100x + 99y=5767..........(2)

Equation (1) ×100 - Equation (2)

100x +100y -(100x+99y) = 5800-5767

⇔100x +100 y -100x-99y=33

⇔y=33

putting the value of y in equation (1)

x+33=58

⇔x=58-33

⇔x=25

The cost of each share in the software company is$25  and the cost price each share in biotechnology is $33.

Andre and Elena are each saving money. Andre starts with $100 in his savings account and adds $5 per week. Elena starts with $10
katovenus [111]

Answer:

Andre has more money in his savings account.

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to have equations for both Andre and Elena. Andre starts with $100 in his savings and adds $5 per week.  Based on this, Andre's equation will be y = 5x + 100. Elena starts with $10 and adds $20 per week. Based on this, Elena's equation will be y = 20x + 10.

Andre: y = 5x + 100

Elena: y = 20x + 10

We have to figure out who will have more money in their account after 4 weeks. To do that, we plug in 4 into x because x is the number of weeks.

Andre: y = 5(4) + 100

           y = 20 + 100

           y = 120

Andre has $120 after 4 weeks.

Elena: y = 20(4) + 10

          y = 80 + 10

          y = 90

Elena has $90 after 4 weeks.

Which is greater? $120 or $90? That's right, its $120. Andre has more money in his savings account. I hope this helps!
