when you divide 2 numbers with the same sign, the result is positive
example, $\frac{2}{4}=0.5$ and $\frac{-2}{-4}=0.5$

when you divide 2 numbers with different signs, the result is negative
example: $\frac{-2}{4}=-0.5$ and $\frac{2}{-4}=-0.5$
