basically,
when you divide 2 numbers with the <u>same</u> sign, the result is <u>positive</u>
example, \frac{2}{4}=0.5 and \frac{-2}{-4}=0.5

when you divide 2 numbers with <u>different</u> signs, the result is <u>negative</u>
example: \frac{-2}{4}=-0.5 and \frac{2}{-4}=-0.5
