Explanation:
The treaty of Versailles took away many things from Germany, including land, and forced Germany to decrease its military size. Germany also had to pay a lot of money to its enemy countries. Many of these factors lead to an economic depression in the country. Germans were angry at the treaty of Versailles and how it left their country, so when Adolf Hitler promised to fix all of Germany's problems, he got elected as chancellor. Once he came into power, he broke the treaty by expanding Germany's military size, and tried to take control of the land Germany lost. In the beginning, the allied powers did almost nothing to try to stop this, until Germany attempted to invade Poland. The allied powers said that if he invaded Poland, then they will start a war. Hitler was used to no one stopping him so he invaded Poland anyways, which marks the start of World War 2.

From Texas Historical Assosiation
Edwards received a grant in the vicinity of Nacogdoches where he could locate 800 families. Like other empresarios he agreed to honor preexisting grants and claims made by Spanish or Mexican officials. Of all empresarios, Edwards probably had the most such claims, some over a century old. In 1825 he posted notices to inform all potential claimants that they must come forward with proof of their claims or he would consider the land his, subject to sale to new settlers. This angered the older settlers, who opposed Edwards until he was expelled two years later.
