the United Nations

Human Development Index (HDI) is an index with international measures of education, life expectancy and per capita income, together they combine to rank a country in a scale of human development. This ranking is done yearly in accordance with the parameters of human development: namely, having a great lifespan, having healthy conditions of life, a high level of education and time left for recreation.

If a country scores high we expect that the lifespan is longer, the skill level is high, and thus the quality of life is superior.

The Human Development Index is one of the main indicators done by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP)'s Human Development Report Office.
