Libraries have the same importance as museums do because like museums are known for their sculptures, paintings, etc., same way libraries are known for their books and manuscripts. In our modern world, there is a library in every block / colony / street. Even after the advancements and the availability of the internet, the good old libraries will never loose their importance.
