To find how far east we drove (This is the displacement), we simple subtract 12 from 40.
An easy way to do this in your head is to round 12 down to 10, subtract 10 from 40, then subtract the remaining 2. This should result in an answer showing that you drove 28 miles east.

Answer:

The displacement is 28 miles.

Explanation :

Given that,

Distance to east = 40 miles

Distance to west = 12 miles

We need to calculate the displacement

Using formula of displacement

D = X_{2}-X_{1}

Where, D = displacement

X₁= Initial distance to east

X₂ = final distance to west

Put the value into the formula

D=12-40

D = -28\ miles

Negative sign show the direction of east

Hence, The displacement is 28 miles.

HI!

Conventional vehicles use gasoline or diesel to power an internal combustion engine. Hybrids also use an internal combustion engine—and can be fueled like normal cars—but have an electric motor and battery, and can be partially or wholly powered by electricity. Also pollute less and save the drivers money.

Good Day.

Answer:

1030 mph

Explanation:

The new velocity equals the initial velocity plus the wind velocity.

First, in the x (east) direction:

vₓ = 335 mph + 711 cos 19° mph

vₓ = 1007 mph

And in the y (north) direction:

vᵧ = 0 mph + 711 sin 19° mph

vᵧ = 231 mph

The net speed can be found with Pythagorean theorem:

v² = vₓ² + vᵧ²

v² = (1007 mph)² + (231 mph)²

v ≈ 1030 mph
