Where do scientists obtain adult stem cells?
saliva
pancreas
skin
bone marrow
Alex17521 [72]
Embryonic stem cell research is kind of a dead area now since there is no way to control the differentiation. Most research is being done on adult stem cells to help map and control the differentiation process.

Stem-cells from aborted fetuses - The government doesn't sponsor this, if it is done it is by private companies not located in the USA. You could try researching umbilical cord stem cells to be somewhere near your topic. They come from the afterbirth of normal deliveries.

You could do a much easier report by covering cloning of mice through stem-cell technology. It is happening and helping scientists understand diseases.

he population of Japanese sika deer in central Japan was determined each year from 2005 to 2014. The sika deer population underw
vekshin1

Answer:

The population would grow to 63,667 deer in a year, and the growth rate would decrease the following year.

Explanation:

Sika deer population : starting at 26000 in 2005

                                     stabilized at 58000 between 2012 and 2014

                                      rmax = 0.57

The population size of Sika deer be one year after the carrying capacity increased to 70000 as a result of deforestation

carrying capacity (k) = 70000

population size ( N ) = 58000

max growth(rmax) = 0.57

To determine the growth

dN/dt = rmax N [ (K-N) / K ] ---------- (1)

insert the given value into the formula above

dN / dt = 0.57 * 58000 [ 12000 / 70000 ]

           = 33060 [12000 / 70000 ]

           = 5667

The increase in population = 5667 + 58000 = 63667

F. Why are there more producers in the world than top carnivores?
Rainbow [258]

Answer:

There is only enough food for a few top level consumers

Explanation:

The organisms that eat the producers are the primary consumers. They tend to be small in size and there are many of them. The primary consumers are herbivores (vegetarians). The organisms that eat the primary consumers are meat eaters (carnivores) and are called the secondary consumers. The secondary consumers tend to be larger and fewer in number. This continues on, all the way up to the top of the food chain. About 50% of the energy (possibly as much as 90%) in food is lost at each trophic level when an organism is eaten, so it is less efficient to be a higher order consumer than a primary consumer. Therefore, the energy transfer from one trophic level to the next, up the food chain, is like a pyramid; wider at the base and narrower at the top. Because of this inefficiency, there is only enough food for a few top level consumers, but there is lots of food for herbivores lower down on the food chain. There are fewer consumers than producers.
