Las llanuras se forman de muchas maneras diferentes. Algunas llanuras se forman a medida que el hielo y el agua erosionan, o desgastan, la tierra y las rocas en las tierras más altas. El agua y el hielo transportan pedazos de tierra, rocas y otros materiales, llamados sedimentos, cuesta abajo para depositarlos en otros lugares.
