is an excuse." Let the domain for x consists of all English written text. Express each of the statements below using quantifiers, the predicates P(x), ????(x), ???????????? ????(x) and logical connectives, including negations if needed. a. Answer:

a P(x) = Q(x)

b. R(x) = Q(x)

c. R(x)  = P(x)

d. Yes

Step-by-step explanation:

This is a statement of logical connectives.

a P(x) = Q(x)

b. R(x) = Q(x)

c. R(x)  = P(x)

d. Yes, (c) follows from (a) and (b)

Reasoning:

(c) is equivalent to ∀x ¬ P(x) ∨ Q(x)

Proof:

Follow the tautology (X→Υ) Ξ(¬x∨Υ)

This gives X: R(x) ∧ ¬ P(X)

The sum of two numbers is 8. The difference between the two numbers is 2. What are the numbers? x + y = 8 x - y = 2 *Use the tab
Keith_Richards [23]

Answer:

x=5 y=3

Step-by-step explanation:

x+y=8 1

x-y=2 2

x+y=8

y=8-x

substitute into 2

x-(8-x)=2

x-8+x=2

2x=10

x=5

substitute x into 1

5+y=8

y=3

5+3=8

5-3=2

How would I graph these equations?

a. 2x + 3y = 12

b. x = 7
riadik2000 [5.3K]
These are 2 very different equations, and should be graphed very differently.

A

For Part A, we must first put this in Slope Intercept Form (SIF), which is y=mx+b where "m" is the slope and "b" is the y-intercept. To do this, we should solve like a normal equation for y.

2x+3y=12
-2x       -2x
3y=-2x+12
/3        /3
y=-2/3x+4

Now that we have the proper equation, it is simply to graph! We should simply make a point at (0, 4), and then go down 2, right 3 until you are satisfied with your line.

B

Part B is a simple x value, which means you will draw a vertical line through 7 on the x-axis.

Below I have attached a clearly labeled graph that shows you examples of these lines. The red markings indicate x=7. The yellow circle shows you the y-intercept in Part A, while the yellow dots show you the slope in Part A.
