Option D: y=-\frac{1}{2} x+4 is the equation of line

Explanation:

The equation of the line is perpendicular to the line y-12=2 x-8 and that passes through the point (2,3)

We need to determine the equation of the line.

First, let us determine the slope of the equation.

Since, the equation is perpendicular to the line y-12=2 x-8, the slope is m=2

Since, the lines are perpendicular, we have,

m=-\frac{1}{2}

Now, we shall substitute the slope m=-\frac{1}{2} and the point (2,3) in the slope - point formula, we have,

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

y-3=-\frac{1}{2} (x-2)

y-3=-\frac{1}{2} x+1

Hence, writing this equation in slope - intercept form, we have,

y=-\frac{1}{2} x+1+3

y=-\frac{1}{2} x+4

Thus, the equation of the line is y=-\frac{1}{2} x+4

Therefore, Option D is the correct answer.

The sides of a rhombus with angle of 60° are 6 inches. Find the area of the rhombus.
Vedmedyk [2.9K]
Sorry I'm not too sure but I know that you can probably find it using this formula:
Area = (1/2)(a)(b)(sin(C)) with C being the angle in the middle of both lines a and b in a triangle

Since a rhombus is pretty much two similar triangles....
Area = ((1/2)(6)(6)(sin6)) x 2
should give you the exact area

Sorry that I couldn't give an exact answer, I'm not too sure what in is because we were probably not taught the same things. Does it mean inch or is it supposed to be Ln? Anyways, whatever it means, maybe you could calculate each option's value and see which one is the same answer as the calculation I talked about above?

Suppose a game of 3-D tic tac toe is played on a 6x6x6 cube. How many winning lines of 6-in-a-row are there through the cube?
schepotkina [342]
On a cube of side k and n dimensions, there are
[(k+2)ⁿ - kⁿ] / 2
winning lines.

In your case,
k = 6
n = 3

Therefore:
[<span>(6+2)³ - 6³] / 2
= (8</span>³ - 6³) / 2
= (512 - 216) / 2
= 148

Hence, there are 148 6-in-a-row winning lines through the cube.
