1881, there was a political cartoon called puck which represented the dangers that the monopoly have. This cartoon was illustrated by Joseph Keppler and it showed a snake which has the monopoly and had the U.S. Capitol in the coils of its tail. This snake was clearly a representation of powerful businessmen.
