During a storm, temperatures can drop to a few degrees. This drop in temperature is enough to make the water unfit for fish. As result, the fish die and get washed up on the shore after a storm. The bodies of fish are acclimated to the right temperature to function normally. An increase or decrease in temperature can disrupt the bodily functions of the fish which can be fatal.<span />

5. Which of the following statements best explains the role of meiosis in reproduction?
kiruha [24]

Answer:

The correct answer is: Meiosis makes it possible for a zygote to have the correct number of chromosomes.

Explanation:

Meiosis is a type of cell division used by reproducing organisms to produce the gametes (as sperm or egg cells). It has two rounds of division that results in four cells with one copy of each chromosome.

Before the division, genetic material from each chromosome is crossed over and creates new combinations of code on each chromosome. During fertilization, the cells produced by meiosis will conjoin to create a cell with copies of each chromosome again, the zygote.

“Survival of the fittest” means organisms that have the most beneficial traits are more likely to survive and produce offspring.
tester [92]

Answer:

The chart shows how well each beetle with each trait were able to survive in their environments, and Mutant 1 was clearly out living the other two, because as you can see mutant 2 has only last for at least one generation, while the non-mutated one lived a little longer. This is because Mutant 1 developed the trait that made its shell darker, and thus it's easier for them to hide from predators, and they were able to successfully pass on their genes to their offspring so now they can do the same.
