Data on tuition and mid-career salary are collected from a number of universities and colleges. The result of the data collectio

n is the linear regression model :
ˆy= −0.91x+161y^= -0.91x+161
where x = annual tuition and y = average mid-career salary of graduates, both in thousands of dollars.
1. Which quantity is the independent variable?
O annual tuition
O average mid-career salary of graduates
2. According to this model, what is the average salary for a graduate of a college or university where the annual tuition is $30,000? $ _______
3. What is the slope of this regression model?

Answer:

1. annual tuition 2. $-27139 3. slope = -0.91

Step-by-step explanation:

1. An independent variable is the factor that is not determined by the model in this case the annual tuition variable (the linear regression model factor)

2. substitute $30,000 into the linear regressions equation gives:

y = -0.91(30000) + 161 = -27139

This value tells us that when the annual tuition is $30,000 the average mid-career salary of graduates is predicted to be -$27,139

3. the slope if the regression is represented by the coefficient of the factor in the linear regression model. In this case, as the factor is x or the annual tuition, and the coefficient of this variable in the given example is -0.91 which in turn is the slope of the model.

I'll explain it simply for you

1st question
Of course you know phythagoras theorm
You even wrote it up there
It states that the sum of the square of the two sides of an equilateral triangle is equal to the square of the hypotenuse
{a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}   =  {c}^{2}
Where C is the hypotenuse
*NOTE* :
HYPOTENUSE is the greatest side in a triangle!!
And that's where your mistake is!
So you should take the greatest side as C
So in Q3. 7, 24 and 26 are the given numbers
You'll make the smaller two numbers a and b and the greatest number C
Using the Formula you'll solve the left side first which is
{a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}
Then the right side which is
{c}^{2}

And if both are equal then it is a right triangle otherwise it isn't!
Let
a=7
b=24
c=26

a^2 + b^2
7^2 + 24^2
49 + 576 = 625
GREAT, Now the right side

26^2 = 676
Since they aren't equal it isn't a right angled triangle...

Then let
a=7.5
b=10
c=12.5

7.5^2 + 10^2
= 56.25 + 100
= 156.25

12.5^2 = 156.25

They are EQUAL
Therefore it is a right triangle too

Hopefully I helped

Sandra worked 6.2 hours on Wednesday,5.5 hours on Thursday, and 3.5 hours on Friday. What is the mean number of hours she worked
erma4kov [3.2K]
5.0666666667=(6.2+5.5+3.5)/3, which would round to an average of 5 hours worked per day

Which is the function describe the arithmetic sequence shown ? 3,7,11,15,19,23
r-ruslan [8.4K]
<h3>a_n = 4n-1 is the function describe the arithmetic sequence</h3>

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

<em><u>Given arithmetic sequence is:</u></em>

3, 7, 11, 15, 19, 23

<em><u>The nth term of arithmetic sequence is given as:</u></em>

a_n = a_1+(n-1)d

Where,

n is the nth term

d is the common difference between terms

a_1 is the first term of sequence

From given,

3, 7, 11, 15, 19, 23

Common difference, d = 7 - 3 = 4

a_1=3

<em><u>Substituting the values in formula,</u></em>

a_n = 3 + (n-1) \times 4\\\\a_n = 3 + 4n - 4\\\\a_n = 4n-1

Where, n is positive integer, n\geq 1

Thus the function that describes the arithmetic sequence is found

The cost of 4 math books plus 1 science book is 4 more than the cost of 2 math books plus 3 science books, if a science book is
cricket20 [7]

Answer:

Let M represents the cost of 1 Math book and S represents the cost of 1 science book.

As per the statement:

The cost of 4 math books plus 1 science book is 4 more than the cost of 2 math books plus 3 science books.

"Cost of 4 Math books plus 1 science book" translated to 4M+S

"4 more than the cost of 2 math plus 3 science books " translated to 2M+3S+4

then;

4M+S = 2M+3S+4

Subtract 2M from both sides we get;

2M + S = 3S+4

Subtract S from both sides we get;

2M = 2S + 4

It is also given the cost of science book is $22.95

⇒2M = 2(22.95)+4 = 45.9+4=49.9

⇒2M = 49.9

Divide both sides by 2 we get;

M = \$ 24.95

therefore, the cost of the math book is $24.95
