What two incidents led to the Spanish-American War?

History

President McKinley didn't want to get in the War at the time, but some things happened which pushed him into joining. Once reason was the fact our battleship, U.S.S. Maine, was sunk. Spain wasn't proven to be involved, but USA had good reason to believe that they were. Yellow Journalism was also a pretty big factor.
Although you only asked for two, I'm just going to give you the other two reasons as well. The United States supported Cuba's desire to have independence so we wanted to go to War for them so they could enjoy like we were. And, lastly, we wanted to protect our business interests with Cuba.

How does scarcity relate to tradeoffs?
maria [59]
Scarcity is what forces you to make trade-offs. Suppose you have an economy that produces and consumes 2 products, A and B. In a world without scarcity, you have enough resources (land, machinery, raw materials, manpower) to produce as many of each product as you need/want. However, in a world with scarcity, you have a limited amount of production resources. You can produce, let's say, 10 A products or 10 B products, or a combination of both products with less than 10 products each. For every additional A product you produce (up to the max of 10), you have to produce less B products. This is a trade-off.

Why did tha United States want to acquire Oregon County
Marina86 [1]
The land was free and perfect for farming, if settlers survived the journey to Oregon the land was all theirs. But not only did the US like it, Britain and Russia also liked it. So the US told people to move there ASAP so it would officially be claimed by America.
