The light-dependent reactions include an electron transport chain system that works in a very
mamaluj [8]

Explanation:

When the high energy electrons move from the reactive center, they are conveyed from one chain protein to another as the energy in the electrons is harnessed to pump H+ ions from the stroma into the lamellae. The electron will ultimately reduce NADP+ to NADPH and the electrons in the reactive center will be replaced by high energy electrons from the splitting of a water molecule in photolysis. The energy of the sun is used to split the water molecule. The high energy electrons then undergo the same cycle as the previous electrons and the cycle continues.

Eventually a proton-motive force is created across the lamellae membrane. This potential energy of the high H+ ion gradient is used by ATP synthase enzyme to phosphorylate ADPs to ATPs.

What happens right before transcription begins?
Ahat [919]
Transcription is the transfer of genetic information from DNA to RNA, and it happens in the nucleus.  We can automatically rule out B.  B is incorrect because it doesn't make sense; how can a process stop before it even begins?

A.  I believe this is incorrect because mRNA is involved when the genetic information needs to leave the nucleus.  mRNA would take it to a ribosome outside of a nucleus.  Since transcription happens in the nucleus, mRNA is irrelevant before it starts.

C.  This doesn't really make sense.  mRNA carries information from the DNA, but not vice versa (in these early stages).

D.  This would make the most sense, since RNA polymerase needs to attach to the promoter on the strand before transcription can begin.

Which of the following statements is true for a eukaryotic cell?
Nutka1998 [239]
I think the correct answer from the choices listed above is option B. A eukaryotic cell possesses the characteristic of compartmentalization of organelles, wherein the organelles are bound by membranes. This type of cell has a true membrane-bound nucleus and has other membranous organelles.
