In act 4 Sc. 1, Lines 97–105: What text reflects Macbeth’s ego and ambition?

In these lines, Macbeth reacts to the witches telling him he cannot be beaten until "Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill...come against him."

His lines reflect his ego and his ambition because he doesn't even stop to consider the possibility he could be beaten. He immediately says, "That will never be." He is so blinded by ambition that he dismisses the prophecy and looks forward to becoming king.

He says that may the woods never rise until "high-placed Macbeth...live the lease of nature." Here, Macbeth is saying that he foresees himself as king, dying a natural death (likely of old age). His ego and ambition blind him to any other possibility.

Describe the setting of “The Most Dangerous Game,” and explain the impact it has on the plot. Use specific examples.
maria [59]
Plot Overview

On a yacht bound for Rio de Janeiro, a passenger named Whitney points out Ship-Trap Island in the distance, a place that sailors dread and avoid. He and his friend Rainsford are big-game hunters bound for a hunting trip in the Amazon River basin. As the yacht sails through the darkness, the two men discuss whether their prey actually feels fear. Rainsford believes that the world consists only of predators and prey, although Whitney is not as certain. Noticing the jitteriness of the crew, Whitney wants to sail past the mysterious island as soon as possible. He theorizes that sailors can sense danger and that evil emanates in waves like light and sound.
