Out of these options, the Grave Protection and Repatriation Act is the only one that does not concern Asian Americans. This act was passed in 1990, and it requires federal agencies and institutions to return Native American cultural items to the corresponding Indian tribes or their descendants. This was designed in order to respect the cultural legacy and political autonomy of the Indigenous people of the United States. The objects that are included in this act are human remains, funerary objects, sacred objects and objects of cultural patrimony.
