Ivan Allen Jr. was the mayor of Atlanta from 1962 to 1970.
One of his riskiest moves that became one of his biggest legacies is bringing Major League Sports teams to Atlanta. <u>He backed construction of the $18 million Atlanta-Fulton Stadium and encouraged Atlantans to do the same. </u>
<u>This attracted Milwaukee Braves baseball team and the St.Louis Hawks basketball team. This was the attraction for NFL that started the Atalanta Falcons franchise.</u>
