The genus consists of many: D. Species

Further explanation

The taxon level is the level of units or groups of living things arranged which start at the highest level to the lowest level. The sequence of taxon levels starts from the highest level to the lowest level, namely:

 • kingdom
 • phylum
 • order
 • family
 • genus
 • species
 • variety

The higher the level of the taxon, the more members will be in the taxon, but there will also be more differences in the characteristics of the taxon members. If the lower the level of the taxon there are also fewer taxon members, and there will also be more similarities between the characteristics of the taxon members.

This discussion will be explained about the Genus at the level of a taxon.

In biology, genus or clan is one form of grouping in the classification of living things that are hierarchically above the species, but lower than the family. The rules or procedures for writing the name of the genus, namely in capital letters in the first word and also italicized or also underlined. Examples are as follows,

Poaceae family consists of the genus are as follows:

 • Zea (corn),
 • Saccharum (sugar cane),
 • Triticum (wheat),
 • Oryza (grains).

A new genus is determined if it meets the following three criteria:

 1. monopile - all offspring of an ancestral taxon are grouped (ie phylogenetic analysis must clearly show both monophyly and validity as a separate lineage).
 2. proportional density - a genus must not be developed in vain, and
 3. uniqueness - associated with relevant evolutionary criteria, namely ecology, morphology, or biogeography; note that DNA sequences are more a consequence than evolutionary lineage deviation conditions, except in the case that they directly experience gene flow inhibition (for example post-zygotic inhibitors).
