Many species, or at least the region they live in, need a relatively narrow set of environmental criteria to be true in order to survive. For example, if an alligator in the Florida wetlands experiences a long-term drought, the plants that the smaller animals eat can dry up and those animals die. Then the alligators have no animals to eat so they could die. If this was to happen over a long period of time and on a worldwide scale, a species could become extinct.

I hope that helps.

Iven the equation representing a nuclear reaction in which x represents a nuclide: which nuclide is represented by x?
kaheart [24]

The nuclide represented as X is thorium and this is an alpha decay where an alpha particle is removed off.

What is nuclide?

A kind of atom or nucleus which is represented by a specific number of protons and neutrons.

The equation given represents an alpha decay. In an alpha decay, an alpha particle is removed off.

The atomic number of the parent nuclide is more than the daughter nuclide by two units and the mass number of the parent is more than that of the daughter nuclide by four units.

Thus, the x is thorium.
