The War Production Board was an agency of the US government, which was founded in 1942 after the US entry into the war on the orders of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The purpose of this agency was to divide resources of materials, personnel and means of production so that effective arms production could be built and maintained. Chairman was until 1944 Donald M. Nelson, who was then replaced by Juliet A. Krug.  

It was dismissed simultaneously with the surrender of Japan in 1945, and then was replaced by the Civilian Production Administration at the end of 1945.
